Description

Japanese Zelkova (Zelkova serrata) is a large, deciduous tree native originally to Asia, growing fifty to eighty feet tall. Japanese zelkova is in the elm family. It is a great substitute for the elm because of it’s resistance to the Dutch Elm disease. It has attractive bark resembling honeycomb. In Japan, Japanese Zelkova is a valuable wood for commercial timber. The Japanese Zelkova makes a great specimen tree or shade tree.
