Description

October Glory maple trees are a variety of red maple that are known for their intense crimson red fall color. Their color also lasts much longer than other red maple cultivars.  The crown is dense and rounded, providing wonderful summer shade. It is a larger maple variety, growing 40-50′ tall and 25 to 35′ wide. It is fast growing and flourishes in a wide range of growing zones.

Developed by Glenn Jeffers, it was introduced in 1964 by the U.S. National Arboretum. It is a cultivar of red maple grown from a cross of Autumn Blaze and one other maple variety that has not been specified. Because of its rapid growth, it often has a large and rather shallow root system, making it unsuitable to plant close to sidewalks.
